How NotifyMe works
NotifyMe is a one-way messaging tool: doctors send, patients receive. You create groups of patients, send a single message, and everyone in the group gets a push notification on their phone (or an email if enabled). Patients can read and react, but they cannot reply — keeping your communication channel structured and clinically safe.
1. Create a patient group
Inside the doctor dashboard, create a group such as "Diabetes follow-up", "Practice news" or "Antenatal class". Each group has its own message history and member list.
2. Invite patients
Add patients by email invitation or share a join code. Patients install the NotifyMe app (iOS or Android) or open the web app, accept the invitation, and they are added to your group.
3. Send a message
Compose a message and choose a type — Information, Urgent, Reminder or Wellness. Press send and every member of the group is notified. Messages are timestamped and stored as part of the group history.
4. Patients receive a push notification
Patients see a colour-coded notification on their device and can open the app to read the full message. There is no reply button — by design. Patients can "heart" a message to acknowledge it.
5. Manage members and history
You can remove members, archive groups, and review past messages at any time. Message history is retained to support continuity of care and professional record-keeping obligations.
What NotifyMe is not
- Not for emergencies — patients should call 10177 or 112 in South Africa.
- Not a two-way chat — patients cannot message the doctor back.
- Not a replacement for a clinical consultation.
